The California Community College system wants to make it easier for its students to go to law school.
Community College Chancellor Brice Harris says this fall, six California law schools will advise and mentor students at two dozen campuses.
"I really do think this is a tremendous opportunity for students in California who think they want to study the law. It's a wonderful opportunity to ease that pathway and to really help students, especially those from educationally and economically-disadvantaged backgrounds."
Students in the program will receive guidance on class selection and L-SAT preparation. They'll also receive financial aid counseling, and won't have to pay application fees for admission to participating law schools.
University of California at Davis, the University of San Francisco, and the University of Southern California are some of the law schools participating.
San Joaquin Delta and Sacramento City College are the two Sacramento region community colleges involved.
The program is sponsored by the State Bar's Council on Access and Fairness.
