There is a whole world of music out there that is barely touched on the airwaves. Saturdays at 6 is a curation of out of the box, pan-genre music from around the world. Host Kevin Doherty brings a brand new listening experience to a curious audience.
Saturdays 6 - 8 p.m.on Music Station
Martin Luther King Jr. at the 1963 Civil Rights March in Washington, D.C.
I listened to Nina Simone and Gene Taylor's lament, "Why (The King of Love is Dead)" for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. this morning and I cried. That led me to want to share it with you on the program this evening as a tribute to Dr. King on his birthday.
It's a packed and intense show, otherwise, with music from Erika Dohi, Tyshawn Sorey, Brad Mehldau, Du Yun and the Jack Quartet, Kronos, Balun, and more!
