CapRadio Names Jun Reina as Executive Vice President and General Manager

Sacramento, CA - July 1, 2020: Capital Public Radio (CapRadio) is pleased to announce that Jun Reina — previously its Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer — has been selected as its Executive Vice President and General Manager.

Responsible for all station operations and strategically guiding CapRadio’s growth into the future, Reina assumed the organization’s top leadership role on July 1, 2020. Reina succeeds Rick Eytcheson, who led the station since 2006. Eytcheson has now been named President Emeritus, and will continue fundraising efforts for the current capital campaign to finance CapRadio’s move to downtown Sacramento.

Reina takes the new role after more than 13 years at CapRadio, where he served as CFO from 2007-2012 before being promoted to COO/CFO. During his tenure, Reina was instrumental in growing a 45-person, $5 million organization to the 75-person, $16.8 million organization that it is today, which now includes seven broadcast stations serving Northern California and western Nevada. Additionally, Reina has spearheaded CapRadio’s planned expansion to a new downtown headquarters and a partnership with North State Public Radio that serves the Chico and Redding areas.

“Jun has demonstrated exceptional leadership in his role as Chief Operating Officer for the past eight years,” said Ruth Blank, CapRadio’s Board Chair and former CEO of Sacramento Region Community Foundation. “The Board of Directors has complete confidence that Jun is the right person to guide us through these challenging times and position the organization for a robust future.”

“I’ve always embraced an innovative and inclusive approach when it comes to serving our communities,” said Jun Reina. “As we continue to move forward, we are committed to being the region’s connective tissue, bringing diverse voices and cultures together — and turning up the volume for those who aren’t always heard. I am honored to be in a position to continue expanding our essential public service and strengthening the communities we serve.”

Born and raised in the Philippines, Reina attended the Ateneo de Manila University and graduated with a degree in the University's Honors Program in Management. He is also an Executive Scholar at Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management — Center for Non-Profit Management. Reina was named CFO of the Year Honoree in 2014 by the Sacramento Business Journal. He is active on boards of nonprofit and arts organizations and is a Senior Fellow of the American Leadership Forum – MVC.

A statement from Jun Reina is available at capradio.org/leadership.
