The book “The White Devil’s Daughters” is the history of the human trafficking of Asian females. This trade thrived in San Francisco in the hundred years between the early 1840’s and the early 1940’s.
The book also tells the story of the “safe house” on the edge of the city’s Chinatown that provided them protection. It was known as the Occidental Mission Home. At the home, there were also women who supported those women and girls who sought refuge. They also fought the enslavement of, and trade in, Chinese females.
