Gavin Newsom simultaneously slams PG&E while supporting the company’s decision to shut off the power to large parts of the state — affecting up to 7 percent of the state’s population. In his comments, Newsom has pointed to San Diego Gas & Electric, a utility that’s drawn wide praise for hardening its grid and bolstering its wildfire prevention efforts, as an example of how PG&E should have done better.
