When the Sacramento Music Festival, or the Jazz Jubilee, was cancelled after 43 years at the end of December 2017, Jim Martinez got moving. Martinez had played piano in the festival, a Memorial Day tradition, for 15 years in a row.

Last year, Martinez founded the Roseville Jazz Festival, a brand new jazz event based in downtown Roseville. And this year, the festival's second, it will run two days instead of one.

Festival executive and artistic director Jim Martinez has a long musical resume and travels extensively to play. Martinez has played with quite a few big names including Lionel Hampton, Christian McBride and Roy Hargrove to name just a few.

The Roseville Jazz Festival takes place on 5 downtown stages. There are acts from near and far that span the jazz genre, from small ensembles to large, from traditional jazz to contemporary, from standard tunes to original compositions. You can find tickets here.
