Dr. Tillman Ruff, cofounder of the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons.

Capital Public Radio

Most people don’t think much about the threat of nuclear war on a day-to-day basis. But that is changing. Just last month, President Donald Trump confirmed that the US will leave an arms control treaty with Russia dating from the cold war.

Dr. Tilman Ruff is the co-founder of the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons. His organization, known as ICAN, was awarded the 2017 Nobel Peace Prize for the key role it played in getting the United Nations to adopt a treaty prohibiting nuclear weapons. In August, California lawmakers passed a Resolution to commit to that treaty.

Dr. Ruff is in Sacramento today and tomorrow to speak with Sac State students. He is also the guest speaker at the PSR/Sacramento dinner Saturday night.
