Davis musician Lillian Frances stopped by Capital Public Radio for an in-studio performance and interview. She was one of more than 700 contestants in this year's NPR Tiny Desk Contest.

Andrew Nixon / Capital Public Radio

Upon a revelation at a Sylvan Esso concert, Davis songwriter Lillian Frances set to work making music. Her early days making folky guitar tracks came to a halt after she got tendonitis harvesting girthy vegetables (read: butternut squash).

Frances came to CapRadio to talk about her post-squash music, where her samples come from and how being fluent in Spanish doens't mean you're understood BY the Spanish.

Frances has upcoming tour dates in the Bay Area this May.
