Transcontinental Railroad Marks 150th Anniversary

Next May marks the 150th anniversary of the Transcontinental Railroad's creation in California. The impact of the railroad on the California economy and the transportation of goods is immeasurable. But the labor conditions Chinese immigrants faced for its creation are a critical part of the story.

Stephen Zhou, vice president of US-China Railroad Friendship Association, joins Greg Lukenbill representing California's 150th Transcontinental Railroad Committee for a conversation about the historical significance of the railroad and a series of events happening over the next year and a half in honor of it.
