Lawmakers Want To Ban At-Fault Utilities From Passing On Wildfire Costs

Four California lawmakers plan to introduce a bill to prohibit California utility companies found at fault for causing a wildfire from passing the costs on to customers.

The lawmakers plan to unveil the bill when the legislature returns in January.

A bill that prevents gas companies from shifting the costs of fines and penalties onto customers from accidents they cause was signed into law in 2011 following the San Bruno pipeline explosion.
