  • Cal Expo will open as a Red Cross shelter as of Thursday night, at 1600 Exposition Blvd. in Sacramento.

The Yuba-Sutter Fairgrounds will remain as an emergency shelter at 442 Franklin Avenue in Yuba City.

Yuba County released an initial list of homes lost to fire Thursday afternoon.

Lobo Fire* and McCourtney Fire**, near Grass Valley and Nevada City:

As of 11:21 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 15, all Nevada County shleters were closed. These were the previously active shelters in Nevada County:

  • CLOSED: Twin Cities, 11726 Rough and Ready Hwy, Grass Valley, CA 95945
  • CLOSED: Animal Shelter: Nevada County Fairgrounds - Gate 8, 11228 McCourtney Road, Grass Valley, CA 95945

* As of Thursday at noon, evacuation advisories for the Lobo Fire have been lifted. The evacuation for the greater Rough and Ready area has been downgraded to an evacuation advisory and residents can repopulate the area. 
 
**As of 11 a.m. Monday, all evacuation orders had been lifted for the McCourtney Fire.

These are the locations of the shelters that had been open in Butte County:

  • CLOSED: Church of the Nazarene, 2238 Monte Vista Avenue in Oroville.
  • CLOSED: Small Animals: Old County Hospital, 2279 Del Oro and Mono, Suite E in Oroville.
  • CLOSED: Large Animals: Camelot Equestrian Park, 1985 Clark Road.

Monetary donations can be sent to:

  • American Red Cross - Gold Country Region
  • North Valley Community Foundation Fire Relief Fund
  • Yankee Hill Fire Safe Council Fire Recovery Fund: Checks can be made out to the “Yankee Hill Fire Safe Council”. Memo – “Fire Recovery Fund". Mail to PO Box 4242, Yankee Hill CA, 95965
  • North Valley Animal Disaster Group
  • American Red Cross - Gold Country Region (local chapter)
  • Salvation Army

Items can be donated at:

  • Oroville Hope Center will accept donations of physical items. Fire victims can come to the hope center to pick-up donations. Donation drop-off/pick-up: Tuesdays through Fridays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Location: 1950 Kitrick Ave A, Oroville, CA 95966 
  • Salvation Army Thrift Store - Oroville accepts donations of physical items. The Salvation Army provides fire victims vouchers for the Thrift Store.
    Donation drop off time: 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
    Location: 1901 Oro-Dam Blvd.
  • The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department Youth Services Unit has partnered with Walmart in an effort to gather toys for families impacted by the devastating fires across northern California. Items can be donated Oct. 12 between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Location: Walmart 5821 Antelope Road, Antelope, Calif.

* As of 8 a.m. Wednesday, all evacuations were lifted for the Cherokee Fire
