Cooler weather and higher humidity have helped firefighters in their efforts to contain the French Fire, which has scorched 12,837 acres in the Sierra National Forest. The fire was 30 percent contained as of late Sunday.
Investigators have determined the French Fire was caused by an abandoned camp fire. The blaze has grown to 11,466 acres, and is 15 percent contained. Evacuations have been ordered and campgrounds closed. UPDATE: 10:15 P.M.
