Insight will not be heard to today to allow for a special documentary from American Radio Works that examines poverty in America, the extreme poor, food stamps, aid to dependent children and the impact of our current economic downturn on the working poor. Nearly 40 million Americans or 13.2 percent of the population live in poverty. The poverty rate for children is even higher. And most experts expect poverty rates will go up due to the economic trauma of our current times, what many refer to as the Great Recession.
