Poet Robert Hass

The press and prisoners / River of Words

The press and prisoners  Governor Schwarzenegger recently vetoed a bill that would have allowed the media greater access to California prisoners. Today on Insight, journalists and prisoner rights advocates tell you why they think media access to prisoners is important.

River of Words  You’ll meet poet Robert Hass and author Terry Tempest Williams. They’re both in Sacramento this week speaking at California Lectures in honor of the 10th anniversary of River of Words, a non-profit organization that encourages nature writing in young people.

California Lectures presents Robert Hass and Terry Tempest Williams in honor of the 10th anniversary of River of Words at 7:30 p.m. today at the Crest Theatre, 1013 K St., Sacramento. Information: (916) 737-1300.
