Your Thanksgiving feast could be more affordable than past years. According to the National Farm Bureau, which puts out an annual price survey for a traditional Thanksgiving meal, serving a family of 10 will cost you about $50. Adjusting for inflation, that same meal back in 1986 would have cost you $62.
Retailers priced their holiday staples competitively this year. Walmart said it was selling the typical 16-pound, premium frozen Butterball turkey at $17.44 on average nationally, down 64 cents from one year ago.
Marilyn Geewax, senior business editor for NPR News, speaks with Here & Now‘s Meghna Chakrabarti about the fluctuating prices of America’s Thanksgiving meal.
