Transcript
SCOTT SIMON, HOST:
Love breaks out in summer. Sometimes it lasts, sometimes burns out, but it always leaves a memory - often a song.
(SOUNDBITE OF SONG, "LOVE LETTERS IN THE SAND")
PAT BOONE: (Singing) On a day like today we passed the time away writing love letters in the sand.
SIMON: You have a summer love story you'd like to share? We'd like to hear it. Who was he or she? Did they even know? Did you ever see them again? And if there's a song that reminds you of that moment in your life, please let us know that, too.
(SOUNDBITE OF SONG, "SUMMER BREEZE")
SEALS AND CROFTS: (Singing) Summer breeze makes me feel fine, blowing through the jasmine in my mind.
SIMON: There are a few ways to submit your story. You can record a voice memo on your phone, then email it to - all one word - nprcrowdsource.org or you can go to the NPR WEEKEND EDITION Facebook page and fill out a Google form. And, just so you know, your story may be read on the air so please make certain it's a story that children listening in the back seat of the car can hear, too.
(SOUNDBITE OF SONG, "HOT FUN IN THE SUMMERTIME")
SLY AND THE FAMILY STONE: (Singing) That's when I had most of my fun back.
SIMON: BJ Leiderman writes our theme music. Transcript provided by NPR, Copyright NPR.
