McDonald’s announced late Wednesday that CEO Don Thompson would be stepping down after two and a half years at the helm. Thompson was the company’s first African-American CEO.
Steve Easterbrook, who serves as McDonald’s senior executive vice president, will take over from Thompson on March 1.
The change comes after McDonald’s recently reported a 21 percent drop in global profit for its latest quarter. Derek Thompson of The Atlantic discusses the move with Here & Now’s Jeremy Hobson.
