The Boston Red would capture the 2013 World Series title if they win against the St. Louis Cardinals at Boston’s Fenway Park tonight.
The Red Sox lead the Cardinals three games to two in the best of seven series, so it’s a must-win game for St. Louis.
The games so far have featured some weird and wild plays, and the hitting heroics of Red Sox slugger David “Big Papi” Ortiz.
“What Big Papi has been doing is the most amazing offense that we’ve ever seen in the World Series,” NPR sports correspondent Mike Pesca told Here & Now’s Jeremy Hobson.
Pesca adds, however, that the Cardinals’ rookie pitcher Michael Wacha will give Ortiz and the Sox a run for their money tonight.
“He’s so young, he’s 22, I think he’s impervious to whatever pressure might be out there,” Pesca said. “So that’s exactly the guy you that want hurling for you. And if you can get to Game 7, perhaps the Red Sox fans, their doubt starts creeping in.”
