Gov. Gavin Newsom delivered his second State of the State address. The surprise was the speech was almost exclusively on one topic: homelessness and solutions to it.
AB 5 became law on January 1, 2020. The legislation’s intent is to properly classify workers as employees or independent contractors. Its implementation has led to relief in some sectors, confusion in others and concern in the arts community.
2020 has brought some great new jazz releases. From Bill Cunliffe to Jae Sinnett and Miles Davis to Eric Alexander. And there’s a new PBS documentary about trumpeter Miles Davis, called "Birth of the Cool," airing on TV stations later this month.
