Michael Tubbs has taken on ambitious and innovative programs in his first year as Stockton Mayor.

In October he launched a universal basic income program providing a $500 monthly stipend for certain residents, a partnership with the non-profit Advance Peace to reduce gang violence by paying criminals to stay off the streets and most recently a $20 million scholarship for Stockton Unified School District graduates to attend a four-year college with $1,000 in hand.
