Four counties – including San Joaquin and Yuba -  have recently reported their first case of West Nile virus in humans this year.
In addition, there has been discussion of a travel advisory to Miami as the number of cases of Zika virus in humans grows.
We’ll talk with Gary Goodman from the Sacramento-Yolo Mosquito & Vector Control District about the transmission of these diseases and predictions for this mosquito season. Also joining us is Vicki Kramer from the Department of Public Health.
It has been reported that out of the 1487 amount of cases of mosquito samples, Sacramento County accounts for 284 of them. The region also reported 293 out of 715 cases of dead birds in the state.
