A Pulitizer Prize finalist for nonfiction and a member of the Latino Literary Hall of Fame will speak at American River College this weekend as part of the Summer Words Writing Festival.
Luis Alberto Urrea is the best-selling author of 16 books, but Sacramento and Davis residents might know him best through his 2004 non-fiction account of a group of Mexican immigrants lost in the Arizona desert, “The Devil’s Highway.”
The book was featured as community reads in 2007 and 2010. His latest work, “The Water Museum,” is a collection of short stories and a finalist for the 2015 PEN/Faulkner Award. We’ll talk with critically acclaimed author about his work and how his dual-culture life experiences help shape his stories.
