Arena Term Sheet The City of Sacramento did
not release a term sheet for an arena plan that could keep the
Sacramento Kings from moving to Seattle. City Manager John Shirey
had set Thursday's deadline for the proposal, but decided it wasn't
ready and postponed the release until further notice. An open house
at City Hall regarding the planned release still went forward.
Capital Public Radio Reporter Bob Moffitt has been covering the
story and brings us the latest, including a new potential investor
in the basketball team. We'll also talk with two people opposed to
the city's involvement in purchasing the team and building an
arena. We'll talk with Isaac Gonzalez, the creator of
RanSACKmedia.com, and Patrick Soluri, a Sacramento attorney, about
their concerns.
Capitol Chat Capitol Bureau Chief Ben Adler
joins us for our weekly look at California's Capitol and what
lawmakers are working on, including state republicans push to
change realignment and why legislative democrats blocked Gov.
Brown's adult education budget proposal. We'll also take a look
local and statewide unemployment numbers.
"As You Like It" Big Idea Theatre bills
itself as a little theatre with big ideas and their current
production of Shakespeare's "As You Like It" is no exception. Set
in contemporary downtown Sacramento's homeless population, director
Benjamin Ismail gives the classic a new twist. The cast and
producing team spent time talking to the homeless in Sacramento's
midtown and downtown regions as research for the production and
have pulled off what the Sacramento News and Review calls a "love
letter" to Sacramento. We'll talk with the director and meet two of
the actors - Ryan Snyder, who plays Orlando, and Jamie Kale, who
plays Rosalind.
Wennberg Showcase More than 400 students in
eight different orchestras will be performing and representing the
Davis public schools music program during the annual Wennberg Music
Festival this weekend. We'll talk about the showcase and why it was
started with Angelo Moreno, the senior Orchestra Director of the
Davis Schools Secondary Orchestra Program, and Hiram Jackson,
former President of the Davis School Orchestral Music
Association.
