Progressive Education: Montessori - We continue our two-part series on progressive education by looking at the Montessori style of teaching. This form of education is on the rise and tends to focus more on early childhood learning. We're joined by Dr. Steven Hughes, chair of the Association Montessori International Global Research Committee, and Matt Hillis, executive director of Bergamo Montessori Schools in the Sacramento area.
Sacramento Fashion Week - Did you know that Sacramento has it's very own fashion week? Fashion design is big business in the city and the various players come together to celebrate during Sacramento Fashion Week, which runs through March 2nd. "America's Next Top Model" winner Naima Mora is participating in a variety of Sac's fashion week events, including a Runway 101 workshop for beginning and intermediate models on proper runway techniques, poses and overall presentation. We'll talk with the model about fashion in Sacramento and her new book "Model Behavoir."
International String Trio - The International String Trio is performing in Modesto tonight. The trio's repertoire includes classical, jazz, popular and world music and they recently recorded an episode of NPR's "Says You." We'll talk to the band about their work and hear them perform in our studio.
The International String Trio performs at 7 p.m. tonight in the Mary Stuart Rogers Theater at the Gallo Center for the Arts in Modesto.
