Proposition 38 Proposition 38 would raise taxes on most
Californians by about $54 a year to pay for local schools.
California Senate President Pro-tem Darrell Steinberg and Former
Superintendent of Public Instruction Delaine Eastin laid out their
arguments for and against the initiative in the opinion pages of
The Sacramento Bee earlier this month. Steinberg says Prop 38 will fund schools but will require
billions of dollars in trigger cuts to other state programs to
balance the budget. Eastin says California's per-pupil spending is among the worst
in the nation and rival tax measure Prop 30 will only maintain
the status-quo. The two join us in our studio to debate the
initiative and explain what California needs most.
Sandy-Related Travel Delays Drifting in the
wake of Super Storm Sandy are travelers trying to make their way
back to Northern California. Major airports in Boston and
Washington D.C. were flying limited flights as of midday Tuesday
and all three airports serving New York City were closed.
Officials are unsure when stranded travelers can catch their next
flight back west but some travel experts are guessing it will be
the weekend before normal travel resumes along the East
Coast. We'll speak with travel expert Peter Greenberg about
flight cancellations, travel refunds, and when travel will get back
to normal. Check a flight's status

Haunted Sacramento Whether it's "The Lady in
White" roaming the grounds of the Maydestone Building or the
playful "Pinky" making mischief in the dressing rooms of the Sacramento
Theater Company, you're sure to know of at least one (in)famous ghost in the Sacramento
region. And if you don't, we'll get you up to speed just
in time for Halloween. Shawn Peter is a tour guide for the
Downtown Sacramento Partnership who gives haunted tours of
Sacramento and is well acquainted with stories of the area's
paranormal players. We'll also speak with Jessica Minnihan,
costume director for the Sacramento Theater Company and unofficial
steward of the company's supernatural spirits.
