Reno Air Races The national Reno Air Races
begin Wednesday and memories are vivid from one year ago when pilot
Jimmie Leeward lost control of his plane, crashing into the ground,
killing himself, 10 spectators and injuring more than 70 others.
But changes have been made in the year since to better protect
spectators and pilots. We'll talk with president and CEO of the
Reno Air Racing Association, Mike Houghton,
and championship-winning pilot John Parker.
"America's Heartland" Do you find yourself
more interested in food than ever before; wondering about the
quality, flavor, safety, production and processing of what we serve
and what we eat? If you're a fan of the PBS TV show "America's
Heartland" - which is produced in Sacramento at KVIE - these
are the kinds of stories you see each week. America's Heartland
begins its 8th season tonight. We'll talk with the
show's producer, Jim Finnerty and hear from reporter Jason
Schultz.
Rufus Buck Gang In 1895, a group of five
teenage outlaws went on a 13-day rampage through what was then
called the "Indian Territories." Sacramento author Leonce
Gaiter became fascinated with the gang and his new novel about
them is getting great reviews. We'll talk with him about "I Dreamt I Was
in Heaven: The Rampage of the Rufus Buck Gang."
