News Network: Robbers Fire What impact is the
Robbers Fire, which CalFire
continues to fight in a remote canyon in Placer County, having on
the city of Auburn and surrounding communities? We'll check in with
the Auburn
Journal's Gus Thomson. We'll also get an update on the fire's
progress and hear how efforts to fight it are going.
Tragedy into Triumph Twenty-two years ago, Joyce Flynn died after drowning in a
Sacramento pool following a relay race. Her heart stopped for 20
minutes and she suffered major brain trauma from a lack of oxygen.
Flynn is now 57 years old, with an advanced degree and a new book
that tells her story and others like it. You'll hear how she
recovered and why she decided to pursue her new career.
Dr. Joyce Mikal-Flynn will sign books from 5 to 7 p.m.

London Calling: Scott Weltz UC Davis swimmer
Scott Weltz pulled off an upset during the US
Olympic swimming trials in the 200 meter breaststroke, beating out
favorites Brendan Hansen and Eric Shanteau. We talk with Weltz
about his win as he gets ready to head to London for the 2012
Olympics.
Brenda Novak New York Times Best-Selling
author and Sacramento resident Brenda Novak
is releasing the first book in her new "Whisky Creek" series this
summer. She's also releasing a free novella on her website Aug.
1st. Novak will be signing books today and all this week at the State Fair's Authors Booth. We'll talk to her
about her work and the direction her new series is taking her
