Healthcare Survey There's been a lot of
speculation about how much the American
Affordable Care Act will cost California taxpayers. But,
for the first time, a Bay Area think tank has outlined how President
Obama's new sweeping health care law will impact the California
economy, including employment. Key findings of the study show
that the ACA could potentially create up to 100,000 new jobs and
generate nearly $4.5 billion in gross state economic output.
Hoby Champion of Change Henry "Hoby" Wedler, a blind graduate student
in chemistry at the University of California, Davis, was one of 14
individuals honored on May 7th at the White House
as Champions of Change for leading the way for people with
disabilities in the fields of science, technology, engineering and
math (STEM). Hoby tells us of his experience meeting
President Obama at the White House and being honored as a "Champion
of Change." We'll also ask Hoby about his research in the
field of organic chemistry, the tools that help him in the lab, his
extracurricular activities and his plas for the future.

University's history professor and frequent Huffington Post
contributor Joseph Palermo just came out with a new book
called The Eighties and joins us to talk to us
about, well, the 1980s. We'll be discussing the Regan
presidency, Iran-contra, the fall of the Berlin Wall, and the
popular culture of that time.

Patrick and Chelsea Kennedy plan to visit and eat at 29
restaurants on Franklin Boulevard, between Broadway and 47th
Avenue. Their blog is called Eating
Franklin Boulevard and their first stop was The Hideaway. The father and
daughter team are beginning a five month long culinary journey down
Franklin Boulevard.
