Foreclosure's Impact on Children A new report by the Brookings Institution looks at how a depressed housing market impacts school-age children.  Nevada leads the list with one in five (19 percent) of the state's children affected by foreclosure. The report says that for every forced move a child's math and reading scores drop as much as a student who has missed a month of school.  California is also at the top of the list - fourth behind Nevada, Florida and Arizona. We'll talk about it with Julia Isaacs, author of the report and a Senior Fellow at the Urban Institute, and Ron Hallett, Assistant Professor at the University of the Pacific and author of "Educational Experiences of Hidden Homeless Teenagers: Living Doubled-Up."

HealthCorps Modeled after the Peace Corps, HealthCorps recruits college graduates to commit to a term of health-oriented community service before continuing on to medical school.  There are now 53 HealthCorps schools, or "living laboratories," in the country and 15 of them are here in California.  Sacramento will be celebrating its second "living laboratory" in a fundraising gala called "Journey to Oz" on April 30th. We'll discuss the significance of the program with Michelle Bouchard, President of HealthCorps; Dr. Shawn Hayes, Chief Academic Officer for HealthCorps; and Jessica Steele, HealthCorp Coordinator at Sacramento Charter High School.

The Art of Negotiation Negotiating is part of our everyday lives, whether we're asking for a raise at work or trying to get the best deal on the purchase of a house or car.  Now imagine if you were taught the same techniques that professionals use when they negotiate major deals. To learn these techniques we'll speak with McGeorge School of Law Professor Michael Colatrella. Colatrella is recognized as an expert in dispute resolution and negotiation. He has the rare ability to take the latest science from this field and make it interesting, even compelling, to non-experts.
