Park Saving Blueprint Friends of
East Sacramento saved Clunie Center by pooling volunteers and
finding investment from nearby small businesses. Now other
neighborhoods with distraught public services are asking the
Friends to share their recipe for success.
School Nutrition Standards For the first time
in 15 years the federal government has overhauled school nutrition standards. The new
standards require more fruits and vegetables, whole grain breads,
and all milk to be one percent or less. But many schools in
the Sacramento region already meet, and even exceed the
standards. We'll speak with food service directors from two
area school districts to see what they serve in their lunchroom and
what they need to change to comply with the new national standard
by July 1. We'll also speak with the Nutrition Education
Administrator of the California Department of Education about what
the state needs to do to comply with the standards and what it will
cost.
Maggie Hollenbeck Local singer-actor and even
family therapist Maggie Hollenbeck is going to star in the next Graham-A-Rama on February 7. She
will be doing the entire "Blue" album by Joni Mitchell.
Rio Americano Jazz - We'll talk with members
of the Rio Americano High School Jazz Combo, on their way to New
York to perform.
