Job Related Injuries Report In the first
comprehensive review of its kind since 1992, a UC Davis researcher
has estimated the national annual price tag of occupational
injuries and illnesses at $250 billion, much higher than generally
assumed. That figure is $31 billion more than the direct and
indirect costs of all cancer, $76 billion more than diabetes and
$187 billion more than strokes. The study strongly suggests that
the U.S. should place greater emphasis on reducing work-related
injury and illnesses, especially since the costs have risen by more
than $33 billion (inflation adjusted) since the 1992 analysis, the
author said.

Zoo and Fairy Tale Town, jamming roads in Land Park and backing up
Interstate 5. Now the zoo and Fairy Tale Town will charge half its
normal rate to deter visitors and give other attractions a chance
to draw crowds. We'll speak with Museum Day organizer, Delta
Mello, about this seminal year for Museum Day and the event's
growing popularity. Beth Callahan, from the Discovery Science
Center, also joins us to discuss some of the special offerings this
Saturday.
