AIDS Expert/New Dean The UC Davis
College of Biological Sciences has a new Dean who is a prominent AIDS researcher. We'll ask James Hildreth about his assessment of AIDS in
the world and his vision for the future of Biological Sciences at
UC Davis, as well as his first impressions as the new dean.
Lincoln Fire Chief Lincoln's Fire Chief, Dave Whitt, joins us to
talk about this week's mandatory evacuation of nearly five thousand
homes after a 29,000 gallon propane train tanker caught fire
and was in danger of exploding. We'll talk
with Whitt about what he learned from the experience, and what
the city is planning to do to prevent situations like this in
the future since trains carrying volatile chemicals will continue
to pass through and be stored in Lincoln.
Yolo Solar The Yolo County Board of
Supervisors is developing an ordinance to protect their farm land
from being converted into solar panel fields. We'll speak
with Yolo County Supervisor Don Saylor, who would
like to see a measured approach to building solar projects on
Yolo's prime farmland. We'll also speak with Senator Lois
Wolk - who represents Davis - and has introduced a bill offering incentives to build solar projects
on marginal or unused farmland.
