Public Health Officer After a long time with
the Sacramento Public Health Department, Health
Officer Glennah Trochet is retiring this September. We'll talk to
her about her time in the department and the major changes in
Public Health she experienced.
SHU Hearings The State Assembly Public Safety
Committee held public hearings yesterday about the California
Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation's use of
Security Housing Units (SHU) at Pelican Bay State Prison.

toured Pelican Bay State Prison's SHU
facility last week. She'll join us. We'll also talk

Dolores
Canales, mother of a prisoner in the SHU at Pelican Bay who
took part in a three-week hunger strike last month protesting SHU
conditions and involving thousands of prisoners. She saw her
son for the first time in 16 years two weeks after the hunger
strike ended and was also a lead organizer of the hunger strike
support rallies.
Lincoln Propane Tanker Fire Many parts of
Lincoln have been evacuated as a propane train tanker continues to
burn by the lumber yard outside Lincoln High
School. Capital Public Radio's Metro Reporter, Bob Moffitt, will joins us this morning to
give an update on the fire.
Nefarious: Merchant of Souls A documentary
that exposes the disturbing trends of modern sex slavery premiers
in Granite Bay this Friday as part of an anti-sex trafficking
event.
"Nefarious, Merchant of Souls" was shot across
19 countries and shows how hundreds of thousands of girls from Asia
to North America are exploited daily as sex slaves. We'll
speak with the director and producer of the film,
Benjamin
Nolot, and the founder of Agape International Missions,
Don Brewster, who organized the
Awareness to Action event to battle sex
slavery.
Georgia Bockoven Local author of "The Beach
House" and "Another Summer," Georgia Bockoven, joins us.
We'll talk to her about her newest book,
"The Year Everything Changed"-- a story about
four-sisters who learn about family on their father's death bed--
which was released yesterday.
