Insight: Public Safety Cuts / Rabies Survivor / Leo McElroy / Misner & Smith

Public Safety Cuts  Sacramento will be finalizing 39 million dollars in budget cuts tomorrow night. Those cuts include laying off police officers, increasing fire department brown outs, and closing swimming pools (next summer).  Interim City Manager Bill Edgar lays out the constraints of this year's budget, and why the city finds it necessary to cut public safety.

Rabies Survivor It's only the third case in the U.S., a girl recovers from rabies without the vaccine. How did she overcome the odds and how did she get rabies in the first place? We'll talk with Dr. Jean Wiedeman, the UC Davis doctor who treated 8-year-old Precious Reynolds.

Leo McElroy Political journalist Leo McElroy's new book, "But You Can't Report That!" is in bookstores now.  It contains reflections on his rise from a reporter to a broadcast executive and eventually an industry leader.  McElroy says his book is more than memoirs. He calls it a "treatise on [the] craft [of reporting]."

Misner & Smith Hot off the trail of a UK tour, Folk/Americana duo Misner & Smith have been gaining acclaim for their award-winning songwriting, musicianship and extraordinary vocal harmonies. They have recently released a third album, Live at the Freight & Salvage, and have been on tour much of the last year promoting it.
