Secure Communities Should California
cities have the right to opt out of the "secure communities"
program? Assemblyman Tom Ammiano has sponsored a bill that
would allow them to do just that. The "secure communities" program
automatically sends all fingerprints taken at police
stations to immigration authorities. Today on Insight, we'll talk
with Assemblyman Ammiano about it.

National Science Bowl Students
from Mira Loma High School won the 2011 National Science Bowl. They
also won an all-expense-paid trip in July to the International
Science School in Sydney, Australia. We'll walk with some of the
students and hear about their project.
Maestro's Award Steven Valencia has just been
honored - as one of 10 Californians - with The Maestro's Award
from the Latino Arts Network of California. He is Artistic Director
of Sacramento's Compania Mazatlan Bellas Artes. He is a principal
dancer and is presenting two shows in May. He is also a peace
officer with the CDCR and teaches at risk youth.

Life." It combines traditional Irish, bluegrass, folk and
