Insight: Legislative Session / City Council / 'How to be Sick' / Heringer Band

Legislative Session It's the last day of the legislative session and we're discussing the big item bills passing through the Capitol. Capital Public Radio state government reporter Ida Lieszkovszky joins us to talk about the bills that have been, could be, or should have been passed.

City Council Not long ago, Sacramento City Council members implicitly put a limit on the allotted time for public comments by pushing the comment period from the beginning to the end of their meetings. That change in scheduling, though, met rough opposition. You'll hear reasoning from a councilmember who thinks the scheduling change is benefiical, and one who thinks it's not so fair to constituents.

"How to be Sick" A former UC Davis law professor was on vacation in 2001 when she contracted a strange ailment that left her feeling perpetually sick. She's no longer a law professor, but she's now the author of "How to be Sick," which details her story and serves as a guide for chronically ill people and their caregivers. You'll meet her and hear the advice she has for making the most out of life.

Andrew Heringer Band Bandleader Andrew Heringer returns to Insight to share his band's newest album, "Under California Skies," which was fully funded by fans, who raised over $10,000 through a donation website. The CD is available online for free thanks to the donations and support of fans.

The CD release party for the Andrew Heringer Band's newest CD takes place on Sept. 4th at Fusion Yoga Studio, 2310 Fair Oaks Blvd #C2, Sacramento.
