Sacramento County Sheriff's Race / Brubeck Recording

Sheriff's Race What’s the future of Sacramento County law enforcement in a time of great uncertainty? The four main candidates for Sacramento County Sheriff will appear on Capital Public Radio’s Insight to share their vision for public safety in the region. They’ll join host Jeffrey Callison live in studio for a discussion about the big issues such as budget cuts, concealed weapons permits, and medical marijuana. The candidates are Jim Cooper, Bret Daniels, Scott Jones and Frank Scafidi. They are running to succeed outgoing Sheriff John McGinness.

Brubeck Recording Old and rare recordings by jazz great Dave Brubeck will be studied soon in Stockton - thanks to a grant from the Grammy Foundation. The tapes and films, which are stored at the University of the Pacific, are of musical and historical interest. The goal is to figure out what needs to be done to preserve and digitize them. Both Dave Brubeck and his wife, Iola, are alumni of UOP. They donated much of his archive to the campus to help found the Brubeck Institute there in 2000. We'll talk about the significance of the recording.
