Paul Mach/ Plants and CO2/ 'The Matter of Taste'/'Deadlines"


Paul Mach There are a lot of famous cyclists in the Tour of California, but the rider who won the King of the Mountain jersey in Stage One is a grad student at UC Davis. He's Paul Mach, a doctoral candidate in Applied Mathematics, who only turned to cycling in his 20s. In less than an hour, the Tour leaves San Jose for the start of Stage Four, a 121-mile ride to Modesto. You'll meet Mach and hear about his race so far.

Plants and CO2 Are rising levels of carbon dioxide making plants less nutritious? Today on Insight, a local reseacher tells you about his study that found rapidly rising CO2 levels make it harder for plants to absorb nitrogen.

"The Matter of Taste" What is considered "good" or "bad" taste? A unique performance and food event in Davis attempts to address that question. You'll meet Grenada Artist-in-Residence and director Anna Fenemore and hear about "The Matter of Taste."
