The Lunch Line (Up) - Hot Lunch Concerts For July

What's better than sitting in the park with a nice hot panini from Hot Italian listening to some talented local acts? We're not sure... maybe if you top off the whole experience with some nice gelato.

Hot Lunch organizer, Jerry Perry, has build an impressive lineup for these free lunchtime musical escapades.

July 3 - Musical Charis

Charis is Greek for "gift," so the name means Musical Gift... adorable, right? This band makes light-hearted, honest pop. The kind that makes you sigh and feel safe and hopeful.

They've been keeping busy playing shows up and down the coast, and they'll be playing at Low Brau on the July 6.

July 10 - Matt Sertich

After 10 years with indie-rock band The Generals, Matt Sertich is striking out on his own. With solo album in hand, Sertich told Submerge Magazine he's planning on relocating to Los Angeles to seek success in the industry. So this Hot Lunch may be one of the last intimate home-town shows before this guy's melodic, reflective indie love songs blow up.

July 17 - Alex Nelson

The front-man and song writer for the Sacramento rock-Americana band, Walking Spanish, will be playing this Hot Lunch solo. Walking Spanish recently released “Phoenix Down” on iTunes.

July 24 - The Freebadge Serenaders

Their Facebook page says they are "purveyors of discount jazz." The Freebadge Serenaders don’t take their art very seriously. The old timey music features of charming regionalism like the song, “Come and Linger In Coalinga,” and this song they wrote about living in Sacramento:

“You're always only two hours from where you want to be,” they sing about the city by the city by the bay, Sacramento California USA.

July 31 - Bellygunner

Sac-music scene veteran, and bassist for Cake, Gabriel Nelson shape's Bellygunner's unique sound through his experience playing in punk, rock and folk bands. He plays withs his wife, Peggy Lanza, on keyboard, Tom Monson on drums, Joshua Krage on guitar and harmony, and Michael Palmer on bass. Here's a performance from TEDx Sacramento last year.
