Abraham Verghese is known for his acclaimed non-fiction work, including My Own Country, which was based on his experiences as a physician treating persons with HIV in Johnson City, Tennessee and became a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle award. His second book, The Tennis Partner, was a New York Times notable book and a national bestseller. His third book, Cutting for Stone, has just been published by Knopf. He has published extensively in the medical literature, and his work has appeared in The New Yorker, The Atlantic, The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal.
