It's been a busy week for books and authors in Sacramento. CapRadio Reads started it off with a bang, hosting Laurie R. King on Tuesday night, and then, on Saturday, we had the annual fundraiser for the Sacramento Library Foundation, Authors on the Move.

This year, this event was even more wonderful than usual, because our own Donna Apidone was there as an AUTHOR! She had been invited to share her new book TransForMission, which, if you haven't read, you should! Donna has been a past host of this fundraiser, and a past keynote speaker wrote our April book election.  It's a small world after all!

Lisa See is the past keynote speaker I mentioned. Her dramatic new novel, China Dolls, is another hit for this prolific, yet careful writer. Her books take some time to come out, partially because she is so busy traveling and researching to make sure all the facts are correct in her interesting stories.

She is a meticulous researcher and it shows in her work. This book, China Dolls, required visits to the Chinese Historical Societies across the country, as well as interviews with pioneer performers in the Chinese Nightclub scene of the 50's and 60's. One of her characters in the book is modeled on the "Chinese Sally Rand," who Lisa knew.

We have only four spots left at the table, for what is certainly going to be a fun and lively conversation, so go right now, and click on the Eventbrite button to reserve your place.

Tuesday, April 14, at 6:00 p.m., at Capital Public Radio.  See you there, and as always, thanks for reading.
