Lisa See's new book reveals the complex and intricate world of an Francisco in 1938.

Please join us for another interesting and fun night of bookish conversation. Our Face to Face Book Club meeting on Tuesday, April 14, at 6 p.m., will feature the new book by Lisa See, China Dolls.

Set in San Francisco, starting in 1938, this is another of See's fantastic, and insightful historical novels. This story of three young women from varied backgrounds who meet at the glamorous Forbidden City Nightclub in the heart of San Francisco's Chinatown. The girl's become fast friends, but that friendship is tested when the Japanese attack Pearl Harbor and the shockwaves reach The City.

Lisa is well known for her wonderful stories and her absolute devotion to her research. This book shows us a side of Chinatown not often seen by Caucasians, but it is a story of friendships we all will recognize.

I hope to see you on April 14th, and for now, thanks for reading.
