It happened several times at the July gathering of CapRadio Reads, featuring Galadrielle Allman, author of Please Be With Me, A Song for My Father, Duane Allman.
With her mother, Donna Allman, in the front row, Galadrielle answered the astute questions of Donna Apidone. At times, the two paused their conversation to listen to Duane's music and his voice in clips from recorded interviews. Galadrielle described to the audience some of the most personal aspects of her research on the life of her father. What came through during the event was the absolute love she has for the the father she only knew for two years, before his death at age 24. Her heartbreak at this loss was evident, but her respect for him is equally prominent.
Allman is an excellent writer. Her talents are at the same level as her famous father, just showing in a slightly different form of communication. She conveyed, in person and in her book, the joy her father got from playing the guitar and composing his music.
