Many of my favorite books take place in the course of one day. Ian McEwen's Saturday, Embers by Sondor Marai and Mrs. Dalloway by Virginia Woolf. I can now add Golden State, by our October guest author, Michelle Richmond, to that list.
In this one day in a tumultuous San Francisco, Dr. Julie Merrill has an incredibly bad time. While the city is in the grip of the vote on secession, we follow Julie and her emotions as she confronts one after another difficult relationship... as the clock ticks.
Richmond's skill at keeping the reader concerned for Dr. Merrill's welfare, along with the welfare of the state in this long and difficult day, brings the novel to its climax and the reader to keep turning the pages. We will keep you on the edge of your seat, as well.
Please join us as Donna Apidone and Michelle Richmond talk about writing, loving the City of San Francisco and what's coming up next for this talented author. Make sure you get a ticket today, and join us on Tuesday, October 14, at 6:30 p.m. for a glass of wine, a scrumptious appetizer and a great conversation.
