An Evening With Anthony Marra

Wednesday, July 31, 2013 | Permalink

Please join us for an incredible evening with Anthony Marra "In conversation" with Morning Edition host Donna Apidone, a Q&A with you in the audience and some lovely Eastern European appetizers and wine.  The date is August 12th at 6:30pm, and tickets, available now are $10.00 per person.  I guarantee this event will sell out fast so please hit that red button on the website to reserve your seat now.

A Constellation of Vital Phenomena is a tremendous book. The story takes place in Chechnya, a place we are sadly now more familiar with, because of the Boston Bombings.  What I did not know when I read this book, nearly 6 months ago, was what horrific things were going on there during their long and bitter war the the Russians.

This story takes place over five days in the midst of  that war.  The setting is a bombed out hospital, and the characters are a young girl, a failed doctor and a female surgeon all of whom are trying to cope in an incrdiblly difficult situation.  I won't say much more here, but what I will tell you is, be prepared.  This book will not let you go, once you start and it will stay with you long after you have finished.

I look forward to seeing you at the author event and I can't wait to hear this conversation.

As always, thanks for reading.
