Our July Book Selection is Beautiful Ruins
Jess Walter's Beautiful Ruins is a remarkable, witty, lush entertainment. Our July read will leave you wanting more from this talented author, whose book will make for hours of reading pleasure and a fascinating conversation for us.
We will find ourselves back in the Community Room at the Capital Public Radio studios for our July Face to Face book discussion. I think you will find our selection, Beautiful Ruins, by Jess Walter a departure from our selections so far. In this book, which has achieved huge accolades from all book reviewing sources, you will find fun and loveable characters, interesting settings and most of all a really sweeping story with tremendous emotional impact. While reading the book, I think you will feel the cinematic qualities of the writing, and not just because both Liz Taylor and Richard Burton do make cameo appearances. How can you not love a book that has as a major setting, a hotel whose name when translated from the Italian is "Hotel Adequate View".
We look forward to seeing you, at 6:30pm on July 9th in the Community Room at the studios of Capital Public Radio. You may sign up for this event by clicking on the Eventbrite Button on the main CapRadio Reads Webpage. As always, please do this soon. Our space is very limited for these Face to Face events and are always a sell out. I look forward very much to this conversation.
As always, thanks for reading.
