The Espagnole Connection


It's an odd fact that some of the best-known Spanish-themed music was written by French composers. True, Spain was just across France's southern border. But there also were Spanish musical forms that French audiences would understand and appreciate.  In this hour, the Spanish style in French music from Bizet's Carmen to Debussy's Iberia, from Chabrier's Espana to Ravel's Bolero.
