Beethoven's "Eroica Variations" for piano are so named because
they share the same melody heard in the finale of his Symphony No.
3, the "Eroica." But in fact, the piano variations were written two
years before the Symphony. And two years before
that, he had used the theme in two other
works. In this hour, how and why Beethoven this theme four times,
