The campus will only have limited services available and most offices will be closed on August 7th and 14th.

University President Alexander Gonzalez says the intent is to help deal with deep state budget cuts. But in a video message to campus employees Gonzalez encourages everyone to make the best of a challenging situtation.

"The furlough days – it’s not rocket science. We just have to make it work. One of the things that I’m trying to do is lock in some days that will be furlough days for the campus. We don’t necessarily want to close down the campus all the time. We have to continue to serve our students. But we just have to be smart about how we work.”

On the designated furlough days in August summer classes will still be held, scheduled conferences will continue and employees not subject to a furlough plan will report to work as normally scheduled.
