Swine Flu and Voting

(Sacramento, CA)
Monday, May 04, 2009

Gail Pellerin is Vice President of the California Association of Clerks and Election Officials.  She says it should be business as usual at the polls – but they’re monitoring the situation:

“With this virus, I mean, things can change at a moments notice so we’re keeping constant communication with health officials and our Secretary of State’s office and other county elections officials and we’ll respond accordingly as the need arises.”

A spokesperson with the Secretary of State Debra Bowen’s office says she’s reviewing the elections code to see how a serious medical event could affect the election – if at all.

The last day to request a vote by mail ballot is May 12th.
